About Me
January 2021
Arianna McDonald is an aspiring writer and advocate for underrepresented and marginalized groups. She first discovered her love of stories and storytelling as a child who couldn’t get her nose out of a book. In these stories, she learned about the vastness of the human experience and the depth of existence.
Motivated by faith and her upbringing, Arianna volunteered at food banks and in homeless ministry, connecting with folks who were less fortunate and often viewed as societal outcasts. From their stories she grew a sense of contempt and anger at the world for having allowed this to happen.
Coming to college opened up a lot of new opportunities for her, and she was able to get involved at the campus newspaper, The Bottom Line. Wearing several hats, from Video Editor to Editor-In-Chief to reporter, Arianna has covered stories in multiple storytelling mediums. Drawn to human interest pieces and tales of inequity, she aims to represent the experience of folks who have been marginalized in one way or another.
As a recent graduate of UC Santa Barbara with a degree in Political Science and minors in professional writing and education, Arianna hopes to gain experience in the field of journalism and freelance writing before going back to graduate school to attain a Master’s in Public Policy or Urban Planning.
